Pre & Post-matric Scholarship Schemes for Minority Students via National Scholarship Portal-NPS Fresh Registration Started Now for Academic Year 2017-18

    The National Scholarship Portal (राष्ट्रीय छात्रवृत्ति पोर्टल), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt of India offers numerous of scholarship schemes to meritorious students (मेधावी छात्रों) belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Minority Communities and Economically Weaker Sections of Society. Pre-matric & Post-matric Scholarships to Minorities Students is one of the schemes by NSP. As we know there are so many students belonging minorities communities (अल्पसंख्यक समुदायों) who drop-out their study in Secondary and Post-secondary education due to poverty. So the government has decided to provides these scholarships to such students to enable and encourage them to continue their study. Thus, they can complete their Higher Education (उच्च शिक्षा) and have a bright future. Applications are invited for Pre-matric and Post-matric Scholarships by the NSP Online Portal for the academic year 2017-18.

    Procedure to Apply for Pre-matric and Post-matric Scholarship Schemes to Minority Students through National Scholarship Portal
    The Department of Minority Welfare (अल्पसंख्यक कल्याण विभाग), Govt of India are responsible to provides both Pre-matric and Post-matric Scholarships to Indian students from minority communities. The objective of this scholarship scheme is to provide financial assistance (वित्तीय सहायता) to the students belonging to minority communities (i.e. Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsis have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minority Act, 1992). So that they can continue their study and have better opportunities for higher education (उच्च शिक्षा के लिए बेहतर अवसर). These schemes are awarding scholarships for studies in India in a recognised Govt or Private Higher Secondary School/College/University/Institution (Affiliated from State Govt/Union Territory Administration). It will also cover Technical and Vocational courses (तकनीकी और व्यावसायिक पाठ्यक्रम) for Class 11th and 12th.

    The amount of Pre & Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme 2017-
    (A) Pre-matric Scholarship Amount (Classes 1st to 10th)
    1. Admission Fee (प्रवेश शुल्क) for the students of Class 6th to 10th- Rs. 500/- per annum (For Hosteller) and Rs. 500/- per annum (For Day Scholars).
    2. Tuition fee (ट्युशन शुल्क) for the students of Class 6th to 10th- Rs. 350/- per annum (For Hosteller) and Rs. 350/- per month (For Day Scholars).
    3. Maintenance allowance (अनुरक्षण भत्ता) is given for 10 months only in an academic year. For the students of Class 1st to 5th is Rs. 100/- pm and for the students of Class 6th & 10th is Rs. 600/- pm (For Hostellers) & Rs. 100/- per month (For Day Scholars).

    (B) Post-Matric Scholarship Amount (Higher Secondary Education)
    1. Admission & Tuition fee (प्रवेश और शिक्षण शुल्क) for the students of Class 11th to 12th- Rs. 7,000/- per annum.
    2. Admission/Tuition Fee for the students of Technical and Vocational Courses (तकनीकी और व्यावसायिक पाठ्यक्रम)- Rs. 10,000/- per annum.
    3. Admission/Tuition Fee for the students of Under-graduation & Post-graduation courses- Rs. 3,000/- per annum.
    Apart from that, there will be Maintenance Allowance for the students for 10 months in an academic session i.e. For the students of Class 11th and 12th- Rs. 380/- per month (Hostellers) and Rs. 230/- pm (Day Scholars). And the students of Technical & Professional courses (तकनीकी और व्यावसायिक पाठ्यक्रम) at Undergraduate & Postgraduate level- Rs. 570/- per month (Hostellers) & Rs. 300/- pm (Day Scholars). Students of M.Phil & PhD- Rs. 1200/- pm (Hostellers) and Rs. 550/- per month (Day Scholars).

    Eligibility Criteria for Pre-matric & Post-matric Scholarship Schemes to Minority Communities-
    In order to apply for Pre-matric and Post-matric Scholarships to Minority Students, he/she must fall down under the following criteria.
    • Only those students can avail this scholarship who belong to minority communities i.e. Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsis.
    • Pre-matric Scholarship Scheme is only available for junior-secondary education (जूनियर माध्यमिक शिक्षा) i.e. Classes 1st to 10th and the Post-matric Scholarship Scheme is available for post-matriculation courses (पोस्ट मैट्रिक पाठ्यक्रम) i.e. 10+2, ITI, Polytechnic, Graduation, Post-Graduation, Engineering, Medical, Pharma, LLB, Management etc.
    • He/she must be secured minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and have good academic record.
    • Also, the students must have secured admission in relevant courses from any recognised Central/State Government Board of Education (मान्यता प्राप्त केंद्रीय/राज्य सरकार शिक्षा बोर्ड).
    • Parental income of the students should not exceed more than Rs. 1 lakh per annum (For Pre-matric Scholarship) and Rs. 2 lakh per annum (For Post-matric Scholarship).
    This scholarship is not available for those students who pursuing Correspondence or Distance Education Courses (पत्राचार या दूरस्थ शिक्षा पाठ्यक्र). Students who availing any scholarship/stipend from other sources are not eligible for this scholarship scheme. There is reservation for girl students as per the state/central government norms (30% of the scholarship will be earmarked for girl students).

    How to Apply Online for Pre & Post-matric Scholarship Scheme to Minority Students?
    Applications are now opened for Pre and Post-Matric Scholarship by NSP Online Portal for the academic session 2017-18. Interested and eligible students can apply for it online through the official web portal of National Scholarship Portal (राष्ट्रीय छात्रवृत्ति पोर्टल) NSP, Govt of India and the link is mentioned below.
    After clicking the above link, a web homepage of National Scholarship Portal will open. Scroll down and find the option of “Pre & Post-matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities” in M/O Minority Affairs Section (अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के अनुभाग). The application will be accepted until 31st October 2017, no application will be entertained after the due date. Also, students are advised to read carefully the Guideline given on the same page before applying for it. After that, select the scholarship and click the “Apply” button to start the process for online application.
    1. Registration Process (पंजीकरण की प्रक्रिया)- As the scheme is implemented through National Scholarship Portal. Firstly, you will have to register yourself into the website to access the online application form. Now click the new user option for “Fresh Student Registration Form for Academic Year 2017-18” and then fill the asked details like the State of Domicile, Scholarship Category, Name of Student, Date of Birth, Gender, Mobile Number, Email Id, Identification Details, Bank Account Information (बैंक खाता संबंधी जानकारी) etc. Please be ensure to enter correct and valid mobile number for receiving OPT- One Time Password then proceed to “Register” button. After some time, you will be received OPT on your register mobile number, enter it in the appropriate box to complete the process.
    2. Application Process (आवेदन प्रक्रिया)- Once you successfully registered on the website, you can able to fill “Online Application Form” for the scholarship as per your convenience. First, log in with the Username/Application Id & Password and click the link of "Apply Now". Then fill up the application form with all the required details such as Personal Details, Correspondence Address, Qualification Details, Bank Account Information, Self-Declaration etc. Please make sure to fill all mandatory details correctly as per your documents existence to avoid rejection. After that, Upload the supporting documents (सहायक दस्तावेज) as per mentioned instruction in the application form and then take a printout of filled-in application form for future assistance. In the end, click the “Submit” button for further process.

    Required documents for Pre & Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme-
    The following documents need to be scanned and uploaded to the application form.
    • One passport size recent photograph of the applicant.
    • Photocopy of Aadhar Card (आधार कार्ड की फोटोकॉपी)
    • Residential proof (आवासीय प्रमाण) is required such as Voter Id Card, Driving License, Ration Card, Water/Electricity Bill etc.
    • Attested Mark Sheet/Certificate copy of previous final examination.
    • A copy of Income Certificate (If not available then proceed an affidavit of family Income declaration from district court).
    • Self-declaration of the Community/Caste Certificate (समुदाय/जाति प्रमाण पत्र) by the student.
    • A copy of fee receipt of current course year.
    • Front page copy of Bank Account Passbook (बैंक खाता पासबुक)which clearly shows Holder’s Name, Bank’s Name, Branch’s Name, A/C No, IFSC code etc.
